Artist

‘I found the process of working with Emma as a lead artist inspired and without judgement, she finds the intricacies through a heightened awareness of political bodies and a knowledgeable approach to choreographic structure and outdoor, site specific practices.’
Amy Lawrence 2018

My movement practice is guided by experiential anatomy, social and folk dances and experimental interrogation of boundaries (social-cultural, personal, temporary, tangible - see ‘Soft Edges’ as an example); informed by direct action. I work in a multitude of contexts, often outdoors and collaboratively,  and I draw on matters close to my heart such as feminism, sexuality, climate justice, grief and the border crisis.

I have received support from the British Council, Arts Council England, Creative Scotland, Jerwood Foundation & Goethe Institut. & am Associated with the Work Room, Platform Easterhouse, Bleu Printemps, Fevered Sleep, Timespan, New Art Exchange, Imaginate, Attenborough Arts Centre, Dartington, Falmouth University, Glasgow School of Art, Fabric, University of the West of Scotland, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Edinburgh College, the Mighty Creatives, Transmission & Outer Spaces.
