Gloves

I explore solitude, touch, self-pleasure and PPE (personal protective equipment) during six months of quarantine in 2020. Self-isolating alone meant I found a new relationship with intimacy and cleanliness and used long turquoise latex gloves to portray a second (less intimate) skin as I moved in a confined space in my home, before the camera. ‘The pure hand needs no glove’: this work, filmed on an iPhone front camera, ruminates on class, labour, sexuality, distortion & injustice during the global Covid-19 pandemic.
