This year I am lead artist on Thursday Night Drama at Platform in Easterhouse. With Carmen Barbel I deliver experimental and inclusive weekly workshops.
Over the past 2 terms the Thursday Night Drama group, who meet weekly at Platform, have worked with invited artist Emma Lewis-Jones and access artist Carmen Barbel to generate a site-specific performance. They have explored themes of support and playfulness whilst using choreographic tools that work with proximity and traversing the landscape; large grass steps outside of the building, beside the library. In this term they also worked with guest artist and florist Molly M. Whawell, who focused on embodiment and composition inspired by a selection of flowers; Sea Holly, Cornflower, Gerbera and Sweetpea. The performance pays attention to the flower’s unique qualities and the dancer’s somatic experiences of internal and external weather landscapes, responsive to the site beside Platform.
